The Healing Process
As you heal, your vision will fluctuate for the first 1-3 months. You may notice some light sensitivity, and/or glare, particularly at night. Each patient's healing response is different. Some patients will notice a dramatic improvement in vision, overnight, while some patients will achieve stability within a few days, or in some cases, a few weeks. Most patients report that they return to their normal activity schedule within a day or two.
A follow-up examination is required one day after the procedure to monitor your eyes' healing. We would also like to see you after your procedure for a one-week, one-month, three-month and one-year post-operative visit. These visits are all part of your initial fee. We do not charge more for extra visits. If you, or we, feel you need to be seen more frequently, it is all part of the same charge.
During these visits, we will check your vision and examine your eyes to make sure they are healing properly. These visits are usually very quick, but, as always, we will take as much time as necessary to answer all of your questions.
Post-Op Care Guidelines:
- Avoid eye makeup for one week after the procedure.
- Rest as much as possible following your procedure.
- Avoid getting water and shampoo in your eyes for the first week.
- Avoid dust and dirt surroundings for one week.
- Avoid swimming pools and hot tubs for two weeks.
- Do not rub or touch your eyes for one month.
- Sunglasses with UV protection are recommended when outdoors for 6 months.
- Avoid driving for the first couple of days following your procedure, or until you are able to safely resume driving.
Please remember that your follow up visit is important. We strongly recommend that you return to see us, to make sure that your eyes are healing properly, and so that we can answer any questions you may have. Remember, this follow up care is included in the cost of your procedure.
