NEW SELECTIVE LASIK PROCEDURE

DOCTORS

Dr. Fischer

Dr. Fischer graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, SD in 1988. He received his medical degree from the University of South Dakota School of Medicine in 1992. Dr. Fischer was then very fortunate to train at the University of Miami's Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, one of our country's top ophthalmology residency programs.

He completed his fellowship in cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery at the University of Michigan's Kellogg Eye Center. Dr. Fischer was certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology in 1997.

He is licensed to practice medicine and surgery in Minnesota, South Dakota, Iowa, and Nebraska. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Academy of Refractive Surgery, the American Medical Association and the South Dakota State Medical Association.

Mike Nagel O.D.

Dr. Nagel grew up in Litchfield, MN and graduated from Litchfield High School. Upon graduation he attended Mankato State University where he majored in pre-optometry. He attended the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago for 4 years, graduating in May of 1989.

He has been practicing Optometry in Olivia and the Willmar area since that time.

While in college he was President of the Sports Vision Club and was one of the team eye doctors for the Montreal Expos organization. During that time he also examined many of the De Paul Demons and the Chicago Bulls in the late 1980's. He has special interest in sports vision and general family optometry.

He was selected in 1997 as the Optometrist of the Year in the State of Minnesota. He currently lives in Bird Island, MN with his wife Dawn and has 3 daughters, Heather, Jennifer, and Maggie. When not at work he enjoys playing amateur baseball, downhill skiing, and bow hunting.

Mike Novak O.D.

Dr. Mike Novak , a native of Montevideo, received his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois. He is also a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College with a degree in Biology.  Dr. Novak recently collaborated with Dr. Jeff Fischer on two clinical FDA Studies for LASIK Surgery.  He resides in New London with his wife Karina and their three children.  Dr. Novak currently see patients in our New London and Willmar offices.

Dwane Gustafson O.D.

Dr. Gustafson received his degree in Optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry after attending Willmar State Jr. College and the University of Minnesota. After graduation he did an internship at the Lilja Eye Center before going into practice with his father, Dr. Robert Gustafson in Willmar, MN.

Dr. Gustafson was drafted out of practice and served two years as Captain in the Medical Service Corp. at Kimbrough Army Hospital in Fort Mead, Maryland. After his service he returned home to Willmar and has been in practice there ever since.

Dr. Gustafson is involved with the American Optometric Association, the Minnesota Optometric Association, American Contact Lens Society, He enjoys spending time with wife Cheri, 3 kids and 7 grand kids.

Dr. Lenz

Dr LenzDr. Lenz grew up in Renville, MN and graduated from Concordia College. He then earned his doctor of optometry from the Illinois College of Optometry, where he was awarded the Dr. Myrel A. Neumann Scholarship for clinical excellence.

After obtaining his doctorate degree, Dr. Lenz completed a one-year hospital-based residency training program in ocular disease and low vision rehabilitation at a VA Medical Center in Chicago, IL. His residency training focused on the ocular manifestations of ocular diseases, with an emphasis on ocular pathology. His specialties include low vision and general eye care.

Dr. Carol Main

Dr. Carol Sheker-Main Dr. Main obtained her BS at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse. She received her Doctor of Optometry from Indiana University in 2005. Dr. Main attended the Illinois College of Optometry as a Pediatric and Binocular Vision resident, where she received advanced clinical training in the care of infants, children and binocular vision. She also trained in adult advanced-care clinics. Dr. Main's areas of specialty are pediatrics as well as general eye care.

Dr. Mike Main

Dr. Mike MainDr. Main received his BS from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada, then obtained his Doctorate of Optometry at the Indiana University School of Optometry. Dr. Main completed internships at the Guanajuato Eye Care Center in Mexico, Lackland Air Force Base in Texas and the Hudson Valley VA Hospital in New York. Prior to joining the Family Eye Center, Dr. Main was an associate optometrist at a comprehensive hospital-based clinic specializing in ocular disease in Wisconsin. Dr. Main is currently a member of the Sports Vision and Contact Lens sections of the American Optometric Association.
